Petition GM for 5 or 6 speed with 2.4

I am told the 2.4 engine is only available with the 4 speed auto trans. That does not work for me. We need to make GM understand that the customer should decide what combinations should be offered. Responding with support to the posting will help GM understand that.

Post now!

Thanks, John

You can find them, but they are rare on lots. Most special order them.

Your dealer is not being honest. Go online and build an HHR. You can get the standard with the 2.2 or 2.4.

Unless this is new (like the new Z-71 4x2).

Yes, even the 2008 brochure states all HHRs come standard w/ get rag 5 speed, w/ the auto being an option.

Don't think the dealer is dishonest as I wanted to special order anyway. He showed me his book which requires auto with the 2.4. And I did take the printout from the website showing the 5 speed being available with the 2.4 engine. I do believe this is an 08 change.

However, I still want the car and if it is available I will buy one.

No... You can get the 5-speed with the 2.4. I'm willing to bet that the dealer just tried to "force" you to get auto because it's an option that costs more money.. Sorry some people are a-holes...

Oh, and no, it's not an 08 change.. The 5-speed has always been available on both engine applications.

Just got off the line with the Chev tech center, and they confirm the lack of a 5 speed with the 2.4. It is gone.

The HHR page on the GM Canada site shows the 5-speed manual as the default transmission for LS and LT models, with the auto being optional.

When you do the "Build your HHR" routine, the default transmission for the 2.4 shows up as the 5-speed manual.

Maybe they are holding back the 5-speeds for the SS, but I don't recall seeing anything about a shortage of getrag 5-speed manuals.

As a side note, petitions rarely have any effect.
