1. I had rented one, and there happen to be a severe ice storm during that time period, the brakes were a little "hurky jerky", I don't know if it was snow inside the brake or if they were frozen, it went away after the car warmed up from driving it. But I live on a hill that is usually closed during really bad storms and it made it up and down the hill without an issue. I'll have to wait for winter to see how mine performs in regards to the brakes, but no issues at this time with mine.

2. I used to own a Subaru Outback, but I feel that I have ample enough cargo space for what I need, traveling and transporting artwork for shows.

3. Mine is a 2-tone, but it is a "plastic". Maybe one do I'll do some mods, but none in the near future

4. I'm satisfied with the paint quality at this time

5. I LOVE the retro look and the MPG I've gotten it up to 32.3 on the highway

6. The cupholders are definately a challange to get used to, I'm finally comfortable with the window switches

7. 8 Days

1) How satisfied are you with the braking ability of the HHR? I am concerned about the rear drum brakes. I have also read that the HHR tends to swerve when braking hard.
90% of your braking is done with the front brakes. Why pay more for a car with a rear disc setup when it does not significantly reduce your braking for everyday type driving. If you are the type that does not pay attention to the road and brakes late and hard all the time, I suggest you find a vehicle with a very advance setup, or just stay the hell of public roads before you kill someone. The HHR will not swerve nor will any car if braking is done properly.

2) How satisfied are you with the cargo space? Specifically, the opening at the rear seems a bit small compared to similar models. Has this been a problem for anyone? Can you list an example of something large you have fit into the cargo area?
The front seat will fold flat. You can put an 8' ladder in the HHR. The HHR can fit larger items in the cargo area than the competitors.

3) The one thing that bugs me the most about the HHR is the super-bland interior. What kinds of mods are available to jazz up the interior with some elegance?
For a car that's priced from the mid-teens to the mid-twenties, the interior is up to par with many other vehicles in its class. There are plenty of aftermarket mods available for the HHR that would "jazz" it up.

4) What are your thoughts on the quality of the exterior paint?
Get running boards. I also think they look better with them on. The quality of paint is just as good as any other.

5) What do you like most about your HHR?
It's a practical and conservative vehicle, yet it's stylish and fun to drive.

6) What do you dislike most about your HHR?
No rear disc. Only for the esthetics.

7) How long have you owned your HHR?
Been selling them since they were in production. I'll be pickup one up as soon as my special ordered unit is delivered to my dealership.

South end of Central District, just north of I-90 in Judkins Park. You?

Thanks to everyone for the great responses! I am fairly certain at this point that if I decide to move forward with a vehicle purchase, I'll get the HHR.
