problem with key fob

My key fob has stopped working for the lock/unlock function. It was gradual, first it would not lock but unlock okay, then neither function would work. The panic button (horn) is still functional. I've replaced the battery twice but doesn't seem to be the problem. Anyone else have this issue or any suggestions? Thank you

Check the battery cage , it may just need to be resoldered.

it could be dirty button contacts

Probably the contacts... eBay kits with housing and new rubber piece are around $7... Use your own circuit board, no programming needed.

Remote key fob problem

Thank you to everyone who responded so quickly. The battery cage was the 1st thing I checked it was okay. Figured out from the comments that the pad with the carbon contacts was the problem. Cleaned them well and got the unlock side to work, the lock side is still a no. I can make it work with a jumper so will find a replacement and should be okay. Thanks again for the help, this forum is a lifesaver.

Coincidentally, I had just ordered the kit for mine from an ebat seller... should be here Monday. I was having the exact same symptoms.

I got two complete fobs with chip because they were cheaper than empty cases. Be careful, though, because some of the aftermarket chips are a different size and shape than factory and won’t interchange. Look at the pictures carefully. I just assumed the ones with no picture of the chip would not fit. Oh, and I was unable to program one of those two cheap chips and so was my Chevy dealer.

Seems that the cheap circuit boards with an LED have problem. We've heard constantly throwing "low battery", won't do operations that require 2 buttons at the same time (restting TPM, Remote start), failure to program etc.

Its me again today. I have no idea how many posts I have made today!

I bought some after market keyless entry remote from eBay... because there was no remote given to me when I purchased it. I bought them because it said I could easily program them myself. Ummm...after fidgeting with them for a while it appears I have to take them to get programmed.

Has anyone had any luck programming a keyless entry remote for a 2007 HHR?

If they don't come with a programming module, then you have to pay someone to do it.
