Hi everyone my 2010 HHR has been being very difficult lately so imma just get right to it so first when turning on my car if not given gas right away it will stall out or when driving and you let go of the gas it’s start to shake and stutter and car starts to jerk and eventually will stall out, yesterday I hooked up a code reader and it said random misfire and crankshaft A & B sensor which I replaced before and I changed my mas airflow sensor I’m not sure what to do anymore me and my dad are at a lost with it
Any information will help

Hi Marlana, to the forums!!

We'll need the actual alphanumeric codes. And sequence of events. There's only 1 crankshaft and 1 crankshaft position sensor, so we need the codes and exactly what parts(with manufacturer and part number) was replaced.

Welcome to the site. Yes as RJ requested, the actual codes please. Sometimes they mean different things.

If it is P0016 or P0017 it is the timing chain and you need to get the new crankshaft sensor variation relearned.

My first guess might be the fuel filter.

Technically, HHR’s don’t have a fuel filter. There is a strainer attached to the fuel pump inside the gas tank. It is a non serviceable part.

Camshaft sensor code usually indicates a stretched timing chain allowing the crankshaft and camshafts to be out of time. A broken front guide will cause havoc also. The sensor is doing its job.

What I hate about FB is the scattershot answers without nearly enough info for even an educated guess. Glad that never happens here.

Crankshaft A & B sensor??? Camshaft maybe?

Pretty darn good direction gleaned from confused post. No substitute for experience.

This car should not be started or even cranked until the chains are proved OK.

Over the last 21 years of an Ecotec in the driveway, from Sweetie’s 2003 Pontiac Sunfire GT to my 2007 LS and my 2011 2LT , plus a dozen or so folks in my neighborhood that had them , I’ve developed a process of elimination.
