Yup...both of mine are doing that and the dealer said there are 3 different styles of running boards and they can only get pads for the newest set. So...they said I needed to get new running boards for my car and they have them on order. Then, when they come in they will have to be painted as they only come unpainted now. Still waiting for them to call and let me know when this will be done. Mentioned gluing them down and they said that because of the way they are made, there really isn't enough places to glue them down properly. Oh well...it's their nickel...not mine. Well...actually it's a bunch more than that.

Didn't realize that they put out 3 different styles. Must be testing to see what works best. but what the hey, at least they are replacing them. I will go to the dealer here in town that installed them and talk with them. Small town, so only one GM dealer. If not satisfied I will call the one I bought the car from which is up in Omaha and about 2hr from me. But what the hey, I need a nice drive.

Redtickyfied Good one. maybe we can get that put in Websters.

Those that have had or are having the issue, were all the boards installed after purchase? I'm just wondering if maybe that is the issue.

Mine were installed after purchase and not ordered with the car Solman. Sounds like the same is true with Daverb as well.

As I mentioned before, my dealer said they did some investigation after another customer came in with the same issue. There is the set that is delivered with the car if it's ordered with running boards. There's the set that they installed on my car after it was purchased in early 2006...and there is a set that was made after those that is different from the first two. Apparently each set has different pads and the only ones available are for the 3rd set...so I would venture to guess that the fix would depend on when your boards were originally installed.

Anyway to see what the differance is? Maybe a way to give those a heads up. Some never see a problem until it's too late. Would be nice to be able to keep an eye out. I know mine came with them.

Maybe we could get someone who had the boards installed that came with the car on delivery...one of those who had them done after purchase (I'll need to take a pic in the daylight) and someone who got aftermarket boards just recently. Just an idea.

Here's one right after the boards were installed...Smoke was still a virgin then pretty much.

I have no idea what ones I have. I did not spec the boards onto my HHR when I ordered it but not long after the order went in I changed my mind and decided I wanted them. They arrived at the dealer a couple of weeks before the car, and, wouldn't you know, were sold to someone else. So when my HHR arrived, no boards. I flipped, and the located another set at another dealer in my color. What I do not know is if those were ones that came with an HHR from the factory and were not installed or whether they were ones order after by the dealer or someone else and just an inventory item.

So far no issue.
