And this is a 2011 model? Why are you even playing with it. It's a dealer responsibility....if they can't handle it, it needs to be escalated to Chevrolet Customer Service. As the TV commercial states....just do it!!

Thats probably where it will end up.

I called Chevrolets Customer Support number this AM and when it was all over, they were confused with what the owners manual had to say as well.
In other words, they couldn't completely answer the questions either, so they too suggested I make an appointment with the Delivering Dealer and have it checked out.

Gee ... why didn't I think of that ??

1. Because the question is basically a simple one, and they should have had the info/answer at there fingertips I.E ...
Does this vehicle have programmable door lock capability ???? Yes or No.

2. My Delivering Dealer is 125 miles away or 250 miles round trip so asking a few questions here and there first is in order.

3. I thought maybe the many Pros on this site might have some interest themselves in this issue and also some constructive comments.

4. It's really information that should be noted in the Features and Specs section on the HHR vehicles.

Hopefully Michelle can get me the info before I make the long trip.

The option you have is how the locks work as Drivers door only, all doors or none.

Those are the Option Choices I want and thought they were on my car but cannot find a way to activate any of them.
They are not offered on my DIC choices.. Nor are any of the other options I mention in my earlier post to Michelle of Chevrolet.

So ... Do I actually even have the options choices ...Thats the question.

Does anyone reading this thread have the options or have you activated them if you do have them ??

FWIW .. My 2005 Chevy LS Venture Van Has all of them and then some.

silverfox, you stated "I just went to supposedly Re program my remote door locks and interior lites"

Unless the '11's are different from the rest of the HHR's you cannot program the door locks for your remote. The remote will only lock or unlock the doors (beside the remote start and the panic horn). The first click will unlock the drivers door and a second click (within 5 seconds) will unlock the rest of the doors including the liftgate.. One click on the lock button will lock all doors including the liftgate.

You can also program thru the DIC for the remote to flash the headlights on or to not flash on when your lock or unlock the doors. but not control the interior lights. They will turn on when you unlock the doors and go off after 20 seconds, unless you turn the key on.

I may have misunderstood your question so this may not be what you are trying to do.

He should also be able to change which doors unlock when he puts it in park, (or shuts it off, another option) "all" (default), "drivers only", or "none" (at least the '07 auto has this)

From my manual......

AUTO UNLK (Unlock)
This feature, which allows the vehicle to
automatically unlock certain doors, can be enabled
or disabled. When AUTO UNLK appears on the
display, press and hold the reset button for at least
one second to scroll through the available settings:

ALL (default): All of the doors will automatically
unlock.

DRIVER: The driver’s door will automatically
unlock.

NONE: None of the doors will automatically unlock.
You will need to manually unlock the doors.

If you have a manual transaxle vehicle, the door(s)
will automatically unlock when the key is turned off.
If you have an automatic transaxle vehicle, you can
select when the automatic unlocking will occur. See
“UNLK (Unlock) (Automatic Transaxle Only)”
following.

See Programmable Automatic Door Unlock on
page 105 for more information.
Choose one of the available settings and press
the information button to select it and move on to
the next feature.

UNLK (Unlock) (Automatic Transaxle Only)
This screen displays only if your vehicle has an
automatic transaxle and DRIVER or ALL is
selected for the AUTO UNLK feature. This feature
determines when the automatic door unlocking
will occur. When UNLK appears on the display,
press and hold the reset button for at least
one second to scroll through the available settings:

KEY OFF: The door(s) will unlock when the key
is turned off.

SHIFT TO P (Park) (default): The door(s) will
unlock when the vehicle is shifted into PARK (P).

See Programmable Automatic Door Unlock on
page 105 for more information.

Choose one of the available settings and press
the information button to select it and move on to
the next feature.

Does it work on mine? Can I change this? I haven't messed with it personally, but I imagine so.

Silverfox, the options in your DIC would not help you if you are looking to customize the way your key fob unlocks or locks the vehicle. The DIC options are only for when you place the vehicle in park. If you check page 3-10 you will find a section called Programmable Automatic Door Unlock which pertains to the two sections found on pages 4-48 and 4-49 about the UNLK and Auto UNLK features. Neither of these features pertain to the key fob itself rather when the shift lever is placed in park. You may want to follow this up with a trip to your local dealer (you don't have to go to your selling dealer unless they are the closest dealer to you) to confirm what I or Michelle have told you or to get a bit more clarification on the features. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for all the detail Greybeard.
It does appear that the 2011 is different than the 2007 you have.
Different Owners Manual as well.
Why they would do a downgrade change I have no idea.
I am going to schedule a local dealer appt. this next week and maybe they can untangle the confusion as to what I have and how to make it work.
My DIC is still stuck ON so maybe there is an actual problem in the system.
