??? Purpose of Upper Air Deflector ???

I have a question for anyone interested in responding to it.
What is the purpose of the upper air deflector on top of the radiator?
Other than covering the top of the radiator and looking pretty.
I have thought about trimming the curve off the backside to allow more air into my engine.
Any thoughts about that - positive or negative?

OK – By your response to my inquiry, I would say “you” have a quite a few bats in your belfry.

Guess you missed the other thread where someone said they did this. My opinion is that if it improved anything, GM would have made it that way. Of course opinions vary.

Well, I did do a search - but came up with nothing. How about adding that thread to your post next time. Yes - opinions vary and some thing their opinions are always correct (that's the problem a lot of times).

Sleeper - Mahalo for the link to the prior thread about this. I looked it over, read a lot of the opinions people gave, and took all of that into consideration. I also talked to a guy at work and he gave me a rather interesting view. He suggested that the deflector might be designed to push the incoming air up over the engine, down the back to cool the exhaust manifold, and actually keep the engine compartment cooler. Kind of makes quite a lot of sense. Again, Mahalo
