Question.....deliberate no start

I have been told by a Master Tech that if you hold the accelerator to the floor and try to crank the engine it will not start. Says they do it all the time doing compression test ect. Said it was a safety feature and Federal mandate. Have any of you guys heard of this before? I would like to turn my engine over some before cranking it up to get oil thru system. If this is actually true be an easy way to do it

You could just pull the fuse for the fuel pump. Or disconnect the coil packs. Or pull the spark plugs.

What you're describing is the procedure to clear a flooded condition. It might work.

Why don't you just do it and see if it works ?
After all "Master Techs" know everything.

I’ve not heard of this feature, I don’t try to get the oil circulating like that, I turn the ignition key gently to the start position, then release ttr key, the computers do the fuel and timing stuff , engage the starter and starts the engine. Like it was designed .

i have had oil pan off.....so its dry...
whats new:

water pump
chains and guides
cam phasers
exhaust vvt valve

i was just thinking if it would work, then i wouldnt have to pull any fuses.
As far as master tech knowing all....this guy is pretty good, but i an one that likes to double check everything

Good to check all the possibilities, but the oil circulation really isn’t necessary. The oil pump is designed to be primed and ready

Many newer GMs have the feature. It's commonly used as a clear flood mode.

So. Does that mean that HHR's (which are 10-15 years old) are not considered to have this "newer GM" feature ?
