Laser and "Instant On" give no warning. Be smart about speeding! I use an Escort Passport 8500 X-50. Great unit!

In this area you can no longer do that either. They are finding new ways and places to nail you.

The bridge yesterday was new.

A lot of times I can tell if cars slow down really quick, that there's a cop around. I use their radar detector for free!!!!

Absolutely. If I see brake lights ahead of me for no good reason, especially at a favorite hiding place, I slow down. More often than not, it's a trap.

That is why I said earlier that it is best to let some idiot run out front fast and just hang back. His tail lighs light up you slow down.

It work on radar, lazer etc and cost nothing.

I used to use a detector for years and had several of the most expesive and best. But today the new systems will get you no matter what you do if you don't drive smart.

I once knew a guy who did road tests for our newspaper and last I knew he was working for Motor Trend mag. He told me one of his favorite tricks on the highway was to never be the first or last car in a line of speeders.

For me, I discovered many years ago that the fallout from getting speeding tickets lasts a LOT longer than the momentary thrill of a high speed run.

He was correct.

Speeding is like birth control. There is only one safe way to prevent a ticket. If you feel the need for speed then be prepared to pay for it at some point.

Detectors are like the pill. Many times they work but they have a percentage of failure too.

I have not had a ticket (speeding or otherwise) in over 20 years (not superstitious, so I can say that). I use the latest Escort 9500ci that includes programmed in (GPS) speed camera locations updated monthly as well as traps. Saves me about once a week. No way do I buy any argument that detectors are a waste of money.
