Rear Door Lock Won't Unlock

Rear Door Lock Won't Unlock
I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and figured it out.
When I press my keyfob the second time to unlock all the doors, the rear door on the passenger side pops up into the unlock position but immediately pops back down into the locked position - every time! I tried turning the child-safety on and off several times with no change. I tried pulling the lock stem up and down several times to make sure it wasn't binding (and it doesn't feel like it) with no effect on the problem. I went to the other side and tried turning the child-safety switch on and off to see if I could get it to work the same way but it always pops up after the second push on the keyfob, it pops right up and stays there as do the 3 other doors and the rear hatch.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem/cause might be with this lock?

What happens when you do an all unlock with the driver door button? That shouldn't matter.
The latch assembly probably has lube or wear issues. Like the motor does not go far enough to trip the "done" switch so it flops back to resting position.

I'll try using the door lock button on the driver's door tomorrow and report back what happens. (I was thinking about trying that right after I posted my problem.)
I've got less than 60k on this HHR and the back seat/doors haven't seen much use. It's been doing this for some time but at first, pressing the unlock button the keyfob a third time would finally pop-up the lock button and I could get in that door. That no longer works. The third and fourth presses of the button on result in a very slight click. Watching the lock rod while pressing the keyfob, it looks and sounds like it's operating very freely as it pops up all the way and then drops back down immediately. Only this one door is effected.

I tried the driver's door lock button this morning. There's been a change since I first started looking at it yesterday - now it doesn't even try to pop up. It's not related to lubrication as there's no attempt at moving now. Yesterday when it was popping up and then back down, it seemed to be very agile and free in its movements. There was nothing dragging.
I was hoping to find someone else that had seen this before. I guess my next step is getting at the wiring to see what it's doing with electrically when the button is pressed.

I had the same problem, same door a couple years ago.
Didn't want to fool with it too much at the time so I just slapped the door hard on the outside near the lock with the palm of my hand and it seemed to have cured it.
