Remote with garage opener

You can get a BT or wifi adapter for the garage door opener so you can use your cellphone.
Maybe "MyLink" or a name similar did that; That would be the car not the fob. And a rarity on an HHR. MyLink is the newer thing, there was some other name.
I think somebody in the wayback did that with equipment from a pickup truck.

There is also the option of getting a wireless relay module and training it to react to one of the hidden extra buttons on the remote. Depending on which circuit board you have there are 2 or 3 or 4 extra buttons, all you need is a case and keypad for them.

There are inside rearview mirrors with Homelink ability, too. That's what I did with another car. There was wiring up there for the compass and electrochromic darkening. Homelink just needs power. It's 10 minutes to install the mirror and 10 to program it.
