If there is a GM dealer within driving distance, get that, and any other outstanding recalls, performed.

MIGHT be in Nigeria. I remember another member's bio stating he was in a foreign country. After I made a comment about his location, he stated that he posted a false location. Said something about he didn't want the Govt. to know where he was..........Guess that fellows tin foil hat wasn't working good enough.

The fob with the key attached is not an OEM fob, it may work, it may not.
The other appears to be correct, but the last 2 digits of the part number are not readable. The battery part number is there on the back of this one also. Get your 2032 battery and try this fob. If it works, great.
If it doesn't, you'll have to reprogram the vehicle to accept this fob. Donbrew has provided the only ways to do this.
If the other fob doesn't work(not sure which battery this one needs), you can try reprogramming for it also. If it costs extra, I wouldn't. The Dorman module donbrew mentioned works for 3 sessions, I think, so it wouldn't cost more to try.
Beware, sometimes people will use these 3 sessions, then return it for a refund. Then you get a module that doesn't work at all.
There are threads here about the Dorman product. It worked perfectly for me on a GM fob. Less than perfect with aftermarket fob.

Time for programming. The Dorman part number is 13736. It comes with a fob and the programming module. It's for remote start.
The ones I tried, non-remote start, kept giving me the 'low fob batt' message on the DIC. Sent it back 3 times. The fobs worked, but... they all had the same issue. Dorman customer service was great. But at least I programmed the car for my 2 OE fobs.

All of the 4 HHR’s I’ve owned behaved the same way; “double” locking the door with the remote results in the alarm going off if the key is then used to unlock the door. Just press “lock” on the remote once - no alarm. I wouldn’t be surprised if this can be changed, but I don’t feel like digging out the manual right now.
