Remote Start

Just purchased 2011 HHR with only 4812 miles on it yesterday. I was going to purchase a new 2012 model until I fould out last year that Chevy quit building them. The remote fob does not have the remote start button on it and I do not see the remote start listed any where. It was a fleet/rental. Does that mean it doesn't have it? I have seen posts for earlier models where the remote could be changed. Can I do anything to make it work on the 2011 model?

If it's not in the DIC, nobody has found a way to add it to a 2011.

to the site Mr. Fudd, and congrats on your new ride!

Sadly there is no way to add a factory remote start to a 2011, but try a Google search for "remote start kits" and you might find one that fits your budget and needs.

Mr Fudd-

I believe that the Stereo & Alarm install shops have a remote start set-up that could be added..

But if you had any electrical issues related or otherwise, GM warranty might be denied..

Thanks to everyone for the answers. Not really what I was hoping for but it was what I thought. I still really like the HHR. If I can sell a couple of vehicles, I might purchase a second one.

If they deny warranty work they must submit it to you in writing or otherwise perform the warranty work.

I have put in over 500 remote starts and if they are done correctly you don't have any issues to worry about

Yup, that's how it starts, you get one and love it. Then you think "well why not, a second one would be nice", and before you know it, there's three of them in your garage!
