Remote start acting funny

Well, it's cold out again and I have not used the remote start since last winter. So this morning seeing as the windshield had a nice layer of ice on it I figured it was time to start using it again. I pressed the lock button then the start and all it did was flash the lights and beep the horn a few times. I tried it twice and gave up. I looked in the manual and it doesn't say anything about the lights flashing and horn beeping if it does not work. I have not had a CEL on.
Would it do this if it was disabled in the DIC settings? I did just have an oil change, maybe the Tech messed it up when he reset the oil monitor? Right now the car is at my car pool buddies house so I can not look into it until tonight but any ideas between now and then would be helpful. Thanks.

Not to sound like I'm ripping on you or anything but we all make crazy mistakes... could it be possible you locked it and then hit the "alarm" button instead of the "start" button?

That would make the lights flash and the horn beep 3 times or if you held it down it would start beeping louder and faster.

The only problem I have had with remote start is when nothing happens. As if the remote isn't reaching the car. But if yours is beeping and flashing the lights then it doesn't sound like that is your problem.

No, I hit the lock button, then the button with the arrow going in a circle. the panic button is red and shows a horn on it.

Check to see that all your doors are closed all the way, my wife's did that once and I found one of the back doors not latched all the way?

Are you holding the "start" button down for any length of time? Needs to be held at least 2 secs for it to start after hitting lock.

Yeah. I am doing that.

Just called the service dept., he said to push the door lock twice, then the start. I asked him if he was sure that once was good enough and he said no, twice. I guess I can try that later.

Let us know what you find, it's the season many of us will be using it again and may run into similar issues.

Pressing the remote start twice will do nothing extra for you.
