Remote start and backup camera

Did the 2010 you saw actually have one? My dealer said that, while they were listed as a dealer option, they never really existed. I'd love to have one on my 2010 SS!

It sounds to me like the dealer that sold the HHR to jerry455's co-worker is installing aftermarket units on the vehicles to pack the sticker. Even though the camera requirement is proposed for all vehicles by September of 2014, it hasn't been voted on or even been before the house and senate. When I ordered my 2011 there was no camera option listed, zero, zip, zilch....but I could get an aftermarket unit installed by the dealer if I wanted. As an FYI to everyone....the NHTSA back up camera standard if it is passed would require 10% of new vehicles to be equipped by 9/1/2012, then by 9/1/2013 40% of new vehicles would have to be equipped, and finally by 9/1/2014 all vehicles offered for sale would have to be equipped with a camera system. Only FOMOCO is making the camera system standard on its vehicles by the 2012 model year. Despite what a dealer might tell you, the camera system is not required by law, because no law has been passed, period.

Well now I feel officially stupid, but its not the first time. Thanks for pointing out the error of my ways scoutmstr, that option doesn't show up on the online configuration function and it didn't show as available in October when I ordered mine. But I'm not going to question the ways of Chevrolet, just going to wander off somewhere feeling stupid for making a concrete statement.
