I believe it's supposed to be 10 minutes. & you can re-start again IIRC ?

Others will know better, I never use it..

You can use this function twice before needing to insert the key into the ignition. It should run around 10 minutes. After it shuts off you can restart it for one more 10 minute cycle before needing to put the key in.

Also note that if you depress the remote start button during the first 10 minute cycle, it will reset the clock to zero and run for 10 minutes ... but this counts as your second start. You will not be able to use the remote start again until you insert the key. This can be helpful if you want it to run 15 minutes and you're sure you'll get out to it before it stops.

Got me curious so I timed mine, yep 10 minutes. From a cold start and 21 degrees out the engine did reach operating temperature. Inside wasn't toasty hot but heat was blowing. I usually leave my heat on defrost med-hi that's enough to de-ice windshield. But I admit on some bitter colder mornings I'll give it a 2nd restart..

That's the key here. If you don't leave the blower on med to high it's doing nothing but warming an engine up.

I know this may be a dumb question, but I'm curious! What happens if you've started the HHR with the remote, then you hop in after a few minutes and accidently turn the key to "start" without thinking! Does it engage the starter again?

Nope. Try it. Even without remote start, once it starts with the key, you can't engage the starter again. Turn the key all you want. It's the "my wife" protection mode . GM does do some things right!
