Remote Starter

Why do my parking lights sometimes turn off when I remotely start, and sometimes they stay on? Also, sometimes I try and start it with the remote, but all is does is flash the parking lights.

Join the club! Mine has been doing the same thing since new. I think there was a TSB on it, but I haven't really persued it. To me, it's only been a minor inconvenience....but it better start tomorrow because our high for the day is supposed to be around 10f.

Chevy issued a service bulletin #07-08-47-002, "park lamps do not illuminate intermittently during a remote vehicle start." This only applies to the 2006 HHR model year. I had the problem of the parking lights not always coming on during a remote start. The service bulletin says to replace the BCM with part #15910666. The dealer replace mine and it has worked perfectly ever since.

Does the dealer have access to the service bulletins? Is the repair covered by my extended warranty?

Yes and if it is a GOOD extended service contract, normally Yes.

I just bought a 2008 & so far haven't noticed this behavior. I know that doesn't solve your issue, but perhaps if they try to tell you it's "normal" you can ask them to show you normal behavior, using an '08...

The TSB number for 2006 HHR's is 07-08-47-002. If a 2007 or 2008 is doing the same thing the dealer should call Chevrolet Technical Assistance to see if this bulletin may apply. Definently don't accept that it is a "Normal" condition.

Our Remote starter does not start the car when it is cold out. It also disables the ability to try and restart it . I can go and manually start it, but the idea of the remote start is to get the car warmed up on cold days. It is useless, so time to see the dealer.
It is a 2006 model.
Had the same problem on my Honda. All cars suck. Just the ways of the world I guess. Well,Ok, our Raniier had no remote start problems......GO Buick!
