removing console
#2
I've just had a bit of a nightmare with dismantling all of the console to be able to re-tighten the bolts holding the shifter mechanism, after taking it out to shorten. The top of the console just pulls up, it's all held together with spring clips. Once the top is off, you can see the four nuts, two at the back vertical, and two horizontal at the front, that hold the frame in place, but there should be no need to remove that part.

Don't forget to photograph the install, and post them, I'm thinking of doing the same. I'm actually thinking of putting ambient lighting all over the interior, as some here have posted intentions of doing, but I've yet to see an HHR with any in.

I'll get some pic's tonight for everyone. I ordered blue leds and I don't really care for the color but they didn't come in aqua, but you can order the lights with the resistor and then order the aqua leds separate and change them. So now I'm waiting on my aqua leds to switch them out. Very simple install, and easy to remove the console.

I've just acquired LOTS of blue and white LEDs courtesy of Christmas lights being on sale locally, so no I've no excuse to not start working on this, other than the HHR being the daily driver for the winter, maybe I'll wait till I can use my other car in the spring to to the more extensive pulling apart.

I'll be back on here tonight with pic's. I'm changing out my blue led's to aqua, which I had to order separately and hand soder because prewired do not come in aqua. I also got a good idea for lighting up those window switches.
