Removing side pillars

I know it has been discussed before, but I just want to be sure. I have the optional side curtain airbags. On the front pillar (with the tweeter) there is an oval plug that says 'air bag'. As I understand, it actually is just a cover for a bolt holding the panal in place.

If the ignition is off, does it reduce the risk of the bag deploying, or is it powered all of the time?

I am looking to run a power line from the sunroof controls to the fuse box.

There's only one screw holding the pillar. It looks like there's a lot of room between pillar and rolled-up side bag when I removed mine. I too had to run a wire from my rear view to the center console fuse box.

And is that the screw behind the panal marked 'AirBag'? I would have to pry it with a screwdriver and have it explode in my face

"Lean into it" a little to cushion your fall!

Remember: airbags rarely deploy when the battery cable is disconnected.

Is there a fuse I can pull instead? I hate having to reset the radio stations.

Pillar just snaps off after removing the screw under "airbag"?

the torx screw is located underneath that cover that holds the pillar in place. Ater removing screw pull the top part of the pillar towards you and it will loosen the bottom part.
