Mine is a former rental from GA. It was certified under GM's program and I've had no trouble at all. I did have the front brakes resurfaced recently, but I understand that's indicative of the model (and they were done free).

It needed a good shampoo and wash/wax, but I don't mind doing that (even after it was done by the dealer). Mine looks great now.

Mine was a lease from Oklahoma.

I bought an 07, 1LT, 28,800 miles on it, leather heated seats, clean, no scratches or stains, remote start, moonroof, 2.2. Bought it from AutoMax and traded a 1984 thunderbird. They had 4 of them there and only one with leather. Bought car Feb 22 2008 and now have 42000 miles on it with no problems. Never had rotor problems and when I took the car in for the recall they pulled up the vin # and said it had never been in the shop other than routine maintenance, ie. oil change. I have no complaints on the car or automax. first time I bought from them. When I got the car the oil had been changed and so had the air filter, tires were in good shape. So for the $15,600 I paid for it I can't complain since I still had the warranty until 36000 miles. (actually until 37,000). I don't see a problem getting rental or leased cars.

Hey if i was going to do a full custom hhr i would probably think about picking up an old rental.
I believe it was Jeff Foxworthy "Anything that has been driven that long and that hard---you don't wanna put your key in it!

I hate to say it but is there any easy way of determning a rental without the carfax thing?

I have a 07 som 2lt that was a rental and it was as clean as a new car on the inside and out. Had 29,000 miles and I paid 12,500. for it. I havent had any problems with it and seems to have been taken care of. I did alot of checking around and people were trying to sell 06 models for more than this one cost me. I am very pleased with my little TIGGER and hope to drive him until I cant drive anymore!! Parked a 89 ford aerostar van with 200,000 miles on it for TIGGER. I still drive it when its nasty outside. I dont like to see TIGGER get dirty. lol
ENJOY YOUR RENTAL, I AM

Other than curb rash on the wheels, mine was in very good condition for a rental. I've put 14,000 miles on it in 12 months with nary a problem. Only problem now is 150 miles left on factory warranty.

I recall back around that time I was looking at the Monte Carlos. Dealer didn't have any but tried to bait me on a Lumina. "its the same thing" he said. I recall saying "if it was the same thing, it would be called a Monte Carlo. "-Idiots
