Replacement cluster

I found this on Amazon: http://************/59ny6o

About $136 with shipping. Checked their website and noticed they are in Flint, Mi., just down the road from me. I emailed them about will they install and how much. Got email back and for $150 for the cluster and install. For that price it isn't worth my efforts to try and do myself. Has anyone else got this yet? Reason I want it is that with shades on in the daytime I can hardly read the speedometer due to the black background with white numbers but the blue under the numbers sure makes it hard to read on 62 year old eys.

I have a black background rather than white on my dashdials.
try turning up the dial on the illumination, it may help.

yeah, right. I've had bifocals since I was 9 years old. Oh, and my father was 60 when I was born (I'm 40 this year). Age doesn't mean squat.

if you replace the cluster dose the cluster have to be reprogramed?

No cluster don't need reprograming as info is all in your computer. Cluster is like a computer monitor, it just displays the infomation.

Ratzilla I can see display fine at night with the gauges lit but in the daytime with my sunglasses on it is very hard to read.

The cluster has to have the correct mileage (yours), if that is what you meant by reprogrammed. If not it is against the law. The company who sells the should have that info about such procedures, if not its illegal to do so.

d-man is correct. Mileage data is stored in the cluster. I had my cluster replaced due to a scratch from the factory on the inside surface. The dealer was required to keep my car while GM overnighted the replacement cluster so the mileage could be programmed at the factory and when installed it would be correct.

It's a quality piece. I think US Speedo actually does a lot of the factory rebuilds for out-of-production clusters for replacement too. I just wish they had a bit more variety in options for the HHR.
