Replacement key fobs?

Hey,

Both of my key fobs are about 6ft under my boat, lsot at different times. I have lived without them for over a year and REALLY want to get a replacement. It would make life with a 6-year old girl much easier. Car in question is a 2008 BASE with NO options and a 5-spd manual. So...

1. Suggestions on which fob to get?
1A. Is it possible to use a remote with the remote start and enable remote start on my car (like had been mentioned in other threads I searched)?
2. Where to get it?
3. Do I have to go to the dealer to get it programmed? If not...how?

You need part number 15777636 which is the one without the remote start. And it will need to be programmed by the dealer. They seem to range from about $35-60 depending on where you get them. GM Parts direct has about the lowest price but you have to add shipping to that. I've seen them for sale on ebay for about $20 and even less if you trust eBay.

I bought one from E-bay top seller and unfortunately it was a dud, it had no signal at my dealer and the seller would not replace it , my bad as I trusted this reputable company. I will not name any names but just beware!!

Uhhh. You have a 5 speed. Remote start can't be enabled.

I wasn't saying you were wrong Stephen(or Daisey), just pointing it out to the OP.

check a few locksmiths, I found one in my area that has done mine for $30, most don't have the right equipment though. Kinda surprises me since it's about the size of a small toolbox

I just bought an HHR and it only came with one(1) key and one(1) remote fob. I got a new key and fob all programmed, remote entry and remote start, from the dealer for 98.00. The key alone for my Dodge truck was more than that.

Sounds like they basically charged for the new key and fob and threw in the programming. I always thought that the programming shoud be free especially if you buy the parts there.
