Replacing Battery

Replacing Battery
Just a quick question
I am going to have to replace the original battery in my 10, it is 10 years old. I am going to get a new AC Delco like thr one in the car. I don't have a device to plug in to the accessory port to keep the memory in my radio and anything else necessary. I have one on order and it will not be here till Wednesday. Can I attach my jump box to the jump points under the hood and remove and change the battery without loosing memory.
Thanks
Ron

Remove the negative cable first, place it aside and secure it .
remove the positive cable , ensure it doesn’t touch any ground surface, place it on a towel or in a work glove.
be careful with the plastic vent tube.
Remove the battery hold down bolts and lift out the old battery.
lift in the new battery, snug up the hold down bolts and connect the positive cable first , careful not to over tighten and break the connection bolt.
carefully install the negative cable and tighten that connection.
You will have to reset your clock and radio presets.
Your finished!
a side note , start the car from rat before you close the liftgate , to ensure everything is ok.
tgen put all the stuff back in the spare tire well .

Thanks for the reply. Over the years and many cars I have had to replace batteries. I still have an old one around but I have no idea what it came from. I have sold a couple of projects over the years. I had planned to use it for the core charge the next time I needed a battery. I have XM and I just wanted to save my presets as I have 5 or 6 bands programed in and I don't want to lose them.

there are some obdII plugs that will keep from loosing the radio presets and one that goes in the lighter plug if hot all the time in the $20 range.

If you are really paranoid about it just get a 9 Volt battery and 2 alligator patch cords; attach the Positive to the red wire under hood and the ground to the ground point. All it takes is 9 Volts you can even open the lift gate.
