right front end rattle; link?

New guy here, Hello! I bought my 06 used for the wife. Out of warranty, I have a front end rattle passenger side. In the past, with others, I would suspect stabilizer link, however, after reading forums, I am concerned! This car has 43,000 miles, just back from a 3,100 mile trip, no problems other than that rattle! Again, like a stabilizer link. I see all these posts re: steering columns, whole rack and pinion, yow, say it anin't so! Any info is appreciated!! PS I can not find anything loose after multiple inspections!!! Thanks..Peace and Love!

I would have to say the steering column issue, at least on mine, definitely sounded like it came from the driver's side, not the passenger side. It happened primarily at low speeds, over rough pavement.

No, I don’t think it is the steering column. My 07 has done this since new but it is getting worse, took it in last year, tech changed the steering column shaft as per a TSB, still there. Will have to take it in again, it will “thunk” with two hand push on right fender. Strut?

I have had the entire steering column replaced , both lower control arms, intermediate steering shaft, by the dealer. I think it is either a strut or the upper strut mount. Will be giong back to the dealer, also mine seems to make noise worse in cooler weather.

Well, I called the dealer this morning, and I have an appoitment Monday morning to take the car in,we'll see what they find this time. Kind of wondering if they are not sure what it is and guessing at it.

I too have a rattle on the left side of my '07 2LT. At first it seemed like it was at the front, tonight it seemed like more underneath the driver and maybe even a bit towards the back. Got me thinking about exhaust rattle, but what is this GM TSB that is out there? Warranty item?

Keep us updated on the results fom the dealership diagnosis...

My fiance had the noise on the passenger side. Dealership replaced all the front bushings.

Stopped the noise for a couple months.

Then started making the noise on the driver's side and getting worse.

Dealership told her everything looked fine and "cars tend to make noises as they get older"...

(that dealership just went out of business after over 40+ yrs)

Now the car is out of warrenty by 1,000 miles...

Anyone know off-hand what the warranty is on our HHRs? 3 yr - 36,000 I hope?
