Rod knock
#2
I moved the thread, not exactly "Front Page News".
The type of oil has nothing to do with "rod knock". Slick 50 will only remove money from your wallet.
Why didn't you use the 5W30 that is recommended, it's right on the oil filler cap on most cars? Synthetic is not mandatory for a 2006.
You should post details in your postings, not in your profile/visitor messages.

Unfortunately, a rod knock is the harbinger of an upcoming catastrophic engine failure, no "Cure in a can" will help.
A bit more info would be great, like how many miles on your HHR, how many miles you go between oil changes, any other issues like overheating recently...all the details you can provide...the better.
And Don is correct, '06 models just require a good quality conventional oil. You can run synthetic or synthetic blend oil in them, and they'll love you for it.
But something "took out" that rod bearing, it wasn't the oil's fault.
