Roof Rack Template?

Anybody got a template for installing factory roof rack? Just bought a used rack, ordered mounting hardware from the dealer, but they say there's no availability of the template. I'm willing to purchase it, or pay you for the opportunity to borrow it.

Here's what I found: I have the factory rack and had to pick up a 12' 2x6 treated pine board at the hardware store (weight, around 40 lbs, if that). I don't have the cross braces, so I lashed some short 2x4's to strap to and put the board close to the passenger side rack. It was all it could handle! You could easily deform the roof by pulling down on the board. The problem is the racks are located 3-4 inches from the edge of the roof and there are no braces inside to reinforce it.

If I were to install a new rack I would locate the racks as close to the edge of the roof as feasible to give it more strength. But this would be limited by the length of the cross braces. I noticed on a friends Mitsubishi Outlander, the racks are located right on the edge and give it much more strength. Just some food for thought.

Try the SEARCH box. Somebody had a template, and there is for sure a "how-to" on this site. There were a couple of discussions, also maybe in the "classifieds".

PM means Private Message. Left click on his "handle" choose "send a private message" from the drop down menu.

Maybe somebody could make some copies of this templet?
Shouldn't be that hard to do or cost too much.
It is just a paper templet, correct?
