Run Laps At Bristol Motor Speedway

I did a search here and couldn't find it posted. I hope I'm not duplicating someone. Here is a chance for us to run laps at "The World's Fastest Half Mile" on June 10th. I know a lot of PT Cruisers will be there, wouldn't it be nice if we had a bunch of HHR's there? If you live within driving distance of Bristol TN, this is a great chance. I'll be there

That sounds like a blast...but even for this NASCAR fan that's a long way to go from Denver. Anyway...I'm finding a little on it and you can get some details here.

For those who might be interested, I'd say give them a call. This is all I have found so far.

Couldn't you just see me doing this?

Talked to the wife and she's really excited about doing this!

It will be soooooo cool to get the HHR out on the NASCAR track.

We're gonna leave St. Louis that Friday night, drive about halfway, stay the night somewhere and drive the rest of the way on the 10th. We just do the reverse that night.

I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!

Now I just gotta get some mods done quick!!

more details

I just talked to John Byrd who is a member of the club sponsoring this event.
  • Everyone who is in line for laps at 4:00 will get a turn.
  • You follow a pace car around but from what he said, no one has kept up with it yet.
  • Its open to cars, trucks and motorcycles.
  • You can have passengers as long as they wear seatbelts.
  • There are no other events at the track but there will be a lot going on in the nearby towns. At least one car show, run by a Nova club, that Saturday night.
  • If enough of us go, we can make arrangement to all be able to do our laps at the same time. They try to do 12 cars/trucks/bikes at a time.
  • You can not get tickets in advance.
We're driving about halfway from St. Louis Friday night and will go back halfway Satuday night. Staying at the Motel 6 in Lexington KY.

I think it would be cool as hell if we could get a bunch of HHRs together to do the laps at the same time!

If anyone wants to meet up down there email me and we'll try to figure it out.

Mike

TMS (Texas) does the same thing at least twice a year, but the Bristol banks and stadium atmosphere has to kick a$$!
