Smile RUNNING BOARDS standard equip here in canada

just wondering if our american friends get them as standard equip their or if they are a $600 option. we have owned 3 HHR;S up here in the great white north 2007,09,&now a2011 and they all came with running boards color coordinated to car. i am wondering if its a cdn export thing or standard equip item in the us also. its just i see so many posts reffering to putting them on. my name should have been CURIOUS BILL as i have a need to know LOL

They were optional on my LS, but I had them installed shortly after I bought it. I believe chevy made them standard in Canada due to the winter weather. They should have made them standard on matter were they went.

I was only shopping for used HHR's and didn't really know anything about them. Glad I did my reasearch andcame here first. Made 'boards' one of my requirements.

As of 2008, they were still a dealer installed option in the US. The only US models I'm aware of with them right from the factory are the SS versions, and that's different from the rest of them.

I installed the boards myself on my 09 LS, they were pretty easy better than I expected. My buddy is a parts manager at a local dealer so he got me a great deal.

I live in Canada and know of someone with a 2006 with no running boards. When I was looking for mine some had them some did not. I don't think they are standard up here but I could be wrong.

They became standard on model year 2007 in Canada, due to abrasion/corrosion problems of the rear doors and rear fenders.

Yeah, but I think you could also get them ordered without. When I bought my 08, they were included at no cost, but there was another 08 right beside it without the running boards.
