Is this what you are going to do when you finally get a HHR?

My HHR also has rust on the rear drum, no problem, will just pain the drum when I rotate the tires.

I'm planning on buying wheels that cover up the rust spots so you can't see them...

The rear drum rust spots are visible because the drums are machined flat to ensure a flush mating surface with the rims. Since material is taken away across the entire face of the drum, raw metal is left exposed in places where the drum does not contact the rim. This can be easily corrected with a can of paint the next time you pop your rear wheels off.

It's also a great opportunity to paint your drums blaze orange...or whatever color "works" on your particular HHR!

I know how you feel. I've tought a few dealers a thing or two about their cars before. I'm a big car fan and read up on a lot of info on different cars, so I know a little more than the average shopper, but it's sad when the dealer doesn't even know what options/packages are available on the car. After I found out that my ION was infact totaled, I went and looked at the Mazda3. The dealer tried to push me towards a new 2005 floor model, and what a steal it was compared to a similar 2006 (it was at sticker too). Let's just say he was shocked I knew the term "first year depreciation." Granted that's more of a sneaky sales gimmik rather than the dealer being ignorant on the product, but still... you get the point.

I was just out in the shop looking over my HHR and I noticed something. My rear brake drums ARE painted matte black, and the front calipers are a real shiny silver color as if they had been coated with something. The drums and and calipers have absolutely no rust on them like the rotors do.
