If gas prices go back down to 2 a gallon I'll buy it from you.

I noticed on that PT the rear cylinders were next to the gas pedal area but that is that stupid cab forward design so ours may not have so much of that problem. Or should I say were in the spot where the gas pedal normally would be lol. Also do you think you will be able to get enough thermal blocking materials in there to keep the heat out of the foot area?
I don't think room around the engine will be very much. The good news is on today's computer controlled engines, once they are running well, they tend to stay that way. Thermal blankets should keep things cool enough. I'll have to build the firewall pretty close to the engine to leave enough foot room. I'm planning on using the Camaro gas pedal instead of the fly by wire HHR pedal. I may find that the computers won't let me, but that is the plan right now.

foose is in your neck of the woods, he built a v8 hhr. maybe just maybe you can glean some info from his shop. also discovery channel has a good video of the hhr v8 buildoff. year one, mothers, craftsman, and foose all built one. sadly the year one is the only one left. but the video has some great footage that could help. especially with the tunnel.

I know the puters keep many things in check but I am refering to things the computer can't fix. Like a bad plug in cylinders 7 and 8. Have you ever tried replacing the spark plug in cylinder 7 on f bodies? This looks like it will be worse and will make atleast 7 and 8 be under the cowl if not half of 5 and 6. Just suggesting to plan ahead accordingly. It would suck to have to drop/pull the whole motor because one plug went bad. BTW I am just using the plug as an example but there are other mechanical things that can happen on the back side of the motor.
