Was searching cars that share the 2.0T and found the Saab 9-3 has that exact engine in it. wonder how much we share performance wise with them?

In fact, all of the ecotec engines are Saab. Some Saabs were built in the same factory as the HHR.

The manual trans is all Saab. GM took Saab's 2.0L turbo research, and added DI to it, from what I know. Saab had no Direct-Injected Turbos, but their fingerprints are all over the FWD vehicles. GM did more work in the US for Solstice/Sky to make it RWD. It's on the web...

I am not sure if the Ecotecs are Saab or GM Europe (Opel). I think what we have in the US is Opel's child with the tweaks mentioned above.

At that time, GM wasn't doing much 4-cyl development here (US) at all.

The Ecotec engine started off in the Opel development shops

see gen 2 & 3 for surprisingly wide array of cars these engines come in.

The Saab 9-4x was built in the same factory as the HHR. Along with it's sisters: Cadillac SRX, Saturn VUE, Chevy Captiva (2010-2011).

Very true.
Good luck finding a 9-4X. They are RARE. Here in the Detroit area, I see one or two a year.

I used to autocross a 9-2X, with some success. Hoosier race tires are amazing, and they are called purple crack for a very good reason. Very fast and very addicting. My 2.5L wagon ran times better than most stock Corvette Z06s on a closed course. They were on street tires, but still... It was my daily commuter, and my commute was over 50 miles each way.

I’ve often wondered , a Buick Regal or Verano turbo , and transmission swapped into an HHR 2LT . That could be hot ridding fun.
A member posted about installing one into an SS , so hmm
I wish I still had my auto recycling (wrecking yard ) connections.
