I have owned my 2009 SS auto for nearly five years and I never knew there was light to show what gear you were in. So today I took the console apart and found the bulb. The strange thing is the bulb only lights when the lights are turned on - not in the daytime auto mode. Any reason for that?






Also this covered the glass that covered the bulb. Is this homemade for some reason or is it OEM? It is very opaque and blocked 100% of the light.

 

Headlights on , only, I guess you don’t need the light on during the day, that plate looks to be installed by a PO , I’ve never seen something like that before in a shifter assembly.
