Should I buy it?

I found a 2009 HHR for $4900 on Craigslist. 103,000 miles. Clean title as verified by a Carfax report I ordered. Has a fist sized dent on the rear passenger quarter panel. I plan to use this car to do Uber. I currently drive a PT Cruiser and love the way it handles. Unfortunately my 2006 PT Cruiser is too old for Uber in Houston. Local requirements are for vehicles to be younger than 7 model years and have less than 150,000 miles. My PT has 69,000 miles.

The HHR also has a check engine light. Took it to AutoZone and revealed a P0013 code. Seems easy enough to fix as seen in a DIY here on this forum that I googled.

Is it a good buy? Seems to be on par with bluebook pricing. How reliable are these things at this level of mileage? Other than the dent, the vehicle is clean inside and out. A couple of faulty window switches, but that's it. And the check engine light should be fixed upon inspection by them anyway before I get the title.

Ooh, I don't know if I should... I just called the department of the City of Houston that handles inspections of vehicles that are candidates for "vehicles for hire" and they said no visible damage, and I told them about this HHR, and they said that while they think it would pass if there's no visible damage, it would just depend on how well of a job they did on bondo-ing it and painting it. I'm kinda scared to take that gamble. Not counting it out, I'm just feeling apprehensive.

Isn't 2009 model just about to be 7 model years old?

Well, I went out to check it out again and I backed out of the deal. The City of Houston wouldn't have taken it because it has way too many dings and whatnot. I ended up getting a 2014 Chevy Impala with 12,200 miles. Definitely doesn't have the same rustic look the HHR does, but it'll be great for it's purposes. I love me some HHRs though. Thanks for letting me drop in, and I appreciate the feedback, everyone. Take care!
