Should I Buy This

Hi all! I'm new here. Back in 06 I bought an HHR that I owned until 2011 when I traded it in on a Chevy Cruze Eco. The ECO was destroyed in a wreck last week so I've decided to go back to an HHR, which I loved.

While shopping I came across an 09 panel with 190k in great shape EXCEPT a big dent in the left rear quarter. It concerns me that it may have been hit hard enough to distort the unibody. I know that'll take an inspection by an experienced person to fully determine but maybe someone here has seen damage like this before and can offer an opinion.
The seller is asking $2,000 for it. I've seen the HHR but not driven it yet.
Thanks!

Welcome to the site,
It appears the rear axle wasn’t hit, or the tire was changed, the quarter panel might be straightened, or a new one welded into place, and a bumper cover.
Is the title clear?
Get an option from a hands on body man, then offer him $1,500.00

Body work will be at least $2,500. Then add $2,000 for the front end wear & tear that will be needed, unless the owner can convince you they know about Lower Control Arms, struts, hubs etc.
Don't worry about uni-body issues, that doesn't work the same way as 1962 Plymouths. It's the strut towers and roof and pan that count. There is a "frame" that holds the front suspension together.

Test drive then I'd agree offer 1500 so long as everything else is in order. It'll cost a pretty penny to correct that damage.

190,000 miles, with that damage. Don't know if it's even worth $1,500. You should do a compression test also, have a mechanic look it over.

Buying it for a project where you can do the labor,,,might be ok for a back up work vehicle.

Buying it for a daily driver means of transportation..... No.

If you can get it for $500, and leave it exactly like it is - don't do a dang thing to it - and just drive it till the wheels fall off, that would be a good deal. Hopefully you'd get 6 months out of it.

But to put time and $'s into it as a daily driver, no way.
