I had to take mine in today and get the shifter control assembly replaced....under warranty though.

Boost gauge replaced, didn't fix the flickering.
Driver side door lock hole drilled, lock was sticking.
Massive body seam leaks, soaked the interior, new carpet and padding. Ever since I got it backed the rear latch strut has been creaking and the headliner and been making a funny noise.

My 08 so far has only had minor issues, but has a few. Purchased @ 5400 miles. Service done at purchase:
Blower motor replaced (noisy)
Door readjusted (it was sagging and rattling)

Items I have repaired:
Various interior dash rattles were fixed by me.

Current Open items(7K miles):
Need the brake vacuum fix
rear bowtie is taking on water
Sunroof rattle (I will take a look at this to see if I can handle it and will do so if possible)

My 06 was very troublesome. I traded it with 35K miles. While I had it:
stereo reprogram for "popping" noise
Shifter interlock (key stuck)
blower motor (noisy)
rotors were resurfaced
steering column
brake reservoir (false low brake fluid message)
rear wiper motor
PCM reporgrammed because remote start didn't work in cold weather
headliner rattle (fixed after multiple attempts)
ignition cylinder replaced as it was loose and car would shut off
Replacement ignition cylinder failed in the run position and was replaced again
A/C compressor replaced as it was excessively noisy
blower motor failed again, completely this time. Intake cowl was repaired for the water leak this time
There was terrible suspension noise in the cold which was never repaired.

I must have been crazy to get another, but judging by the other responses, my 06 was not typical. I think my 08 will give me very good service.

The mandatory GM recall; oil changes; new passenger rear tire (the original was slashed in the sidewall)... that's it.

Oh, and there's 18,079 miles on it since September 2005.

08 ls 5 speed

7 months, 8,000 miles, only an oil change, performed by me at 3100 miles.

Base car without the frills, not too much to go wrong, (I hope)
