You're getting better. As you know already, picture quality is very important if you're trying to win featured HHR of the month. You got beat out by another black HHR that looked mostly stock, but had a great shot rolling down the road in motion. I can't seem to find the right background to get the shots I want, I just don't have the eye.
For this month, I'd like to see some shots of your black HHR by an old graveyard, get that spooky October feel to it. I'm surprised none of us chose that type of theme for the October submission, but at least the pumpkin colored HHR won.

Spot metering
Halfpanel-
Set your camera to spot metering or center weighted. When you combine white or light backgrounds and average metering (the whole scene), the camera will expose for the light objects to prevent it from overexposing. This will make your blacks come out a lot darker, squashing any details
Also, use your zoom at max as close as you can AF(auto focus) when framing your vehicle. This will create a in-focus vehicle and soft, blurry, non distracting background adding pop. Use a tripod and ISO 100 or 200.
In bright sunlight shots, try holding a pair of polarized sunglasses in front of the lense, this will cut out some reflective glare. And always keep the light at your back.

The actual winners shots weren't all that great, he had a panel in a cool color with a nice graphic ( that many thought was a Harley Davidson graphic, look closer). He wasn't the best photographer, just the right combination for the month. It's hard to pick those winners because we ALL like HHR's.
I still would like to see some shots of yours by an old graveyard, make it look more sinister.

I meant the OTHER black HHR looked almost stock ( ithink it was an SS) but it was a great shot.

When it's moving like that, I can't even tell what kind of wheels are on it, but it was a great shot, HHR in good focus as the scenery was blurred from motion. Good camera work. When I can't decide which one I like best, then I vote for best photography
