Sorry, guy at gas station... 2LT doesn't mean 2.0 liter turbo...

Pull into a gas station today in my SS right behind a guy getting out of a 2LT. He walks over and starts asking about my HHR, you know, which engine does it have, etc... it's fairly obvious that this guy didn't do any research regarding the HHR before he bought one. I told him I had the 2 liter turbo just like every other SS. He starts telling me that the SS package is just an appearance upgrade and that the turbo is available on non SS HHRs too.
I was stunned when he explained to me that his 2LT had a turbo engine in it... I asked him who told him that and he replied that that's what the emblem on the back meant "2LT" he said, "means 2 liter turbo!"
I spent the next 5 or so minutes explaining the differences and showing him the SS engine... he wasn't pleased.
I still can't believe he thought his 2.2 had 260 HP...
I probably could have sold him my HHR right there for more than I owe on it...

When famous jazz musician Louie Armstrong first learned to read music, his bandmates were stunned when, during a section marked "pp" (very soft, for those unfamiliar), Louie couldn't have been playing much louder...one of his bandmates stopped the band and said "Louie, what the hell are you playing so loud? Can't you see the "pp"? That means play very softly!"
Louie countered with "Oh damn. I thought it meant Pound Plenty!"
2LT...2 Liter Turbo?! What an idiot that guy was. He must find a lot of things confusing...

Such as in 2001 Pontiac offered a mid year change in WS.6 Rims where some people got the older style thinner 5 spoke and newer ones got a much thicker (and IMO uglier) 5 spoke.
I only know that as I own one of these cars and I get all into the ins and outs of them.

sorry i meant to type 2.4l in the O.P.
The craziest thing is he knew it was a 2LT, the emblem only says LT, but he was still convinced the trim package 2LT stood for 2.0 liter turbo... I don't understand how someone could buy something as substantial as a car and not do any research at all. I dated a girl for a while that really wanted a black Olds Alero. She sent her dad to go car shopping for her and he came back with a black Olds INTRIGUE... She didn't care because the most important feature of the car was that it was black... wow. Before I bought my SS I was looking for a 2lt with the manual tranny. (the heated seats would be nice in winters up here...) Every time I called a dealership that had one listed as an LT, they didn't know any of the differences between 1LT and 2LT until i described them both...
Most people that ask questions about the SS still immediately assume HHR is just a different trim package available on the PT Cruiser... I usually just point at the big bowtie on the back and say "it's a chevy...".
I think i should get the vanity plate "NOT A PT"

Awwww.... someone always goes there... it's cool. I'm happy to be the only HHR SS owner in town. The only other one I've seen is at a dealership right now. It's an auto and has roof rails (?). No HHR stripe either...
I guess I kind of like the fact that no one knows anything about the car... it makes it that much more unique.

Can't believe he thought he had a TURBO. I almost bought a 2LT until I drove the Turbo. Then there was no discussion. I didn't even care about the price because I couldn't wipe the stupid grin off my face. I'd traded a Firebird with @215 hp in the 3800. Nice car, I still like it better than my HHR but a 12 year old firebird and 2 kids under 3 was not going to happen.
Love my Turbo waggy.

I did get suckered into buying a Jeep with D35 rearend when I wanted a D44. The dealer told me it had a D44 but I didn't learn how to tell the difference until AFTER I bought the Jeep. Live and learn.
