HHR's run at approximately 2,250rpm at 60, so yours is right where it's supposed to be.

That's assuming you have an automatic, if you have a 5-speed I'm not sure what rpm they pull in top gear.

I'd check the exhaust, or have it checked, you may have a leak in the flex pipe from the exhaust manifold to the catalytic converter. When they let go, the engine note can become quite raucous.

If you have a manual trans, check for a slipping clutch.

If you check it when you first start it, more likely to see internal condensation weeping out of the flex-pipe at the crack. Good starting point anyhow.

If its the flex pipe you better drive with the windows down, and it will get worse, I bought my flex pipe from Rock Auto $35.99 plus shipping had it installed at Midas $90.00 its all good now, good luck.

Just went through this on my 08 LT, the Flex Pipe is covered under the 8-year/80K cat warranty. If that's what the problem is, better to just let your local Chevy service center take care of it.

I can definitely look into this situation for you. Could you please private message me your name, address, vehicle identification number (VIN), and current mileage? This will allow me to see that options you may have available.

Thank you kindly,
