Speed bumps .....
Yesterday I went over a speed bump @ 20 mph ... sheezzzz was it ever scary!!
Once I went over it, I could hear a big bang like my car hit the end if his suspension (it was like the engine almost came out ...)
No visual damage and still a smode ride - so I guess no damage
I HATE speed bumps- I would like to meet the retard who invented these things !!

Trust me, engineers HATE speed bumps. Your DOT guys don't install those things. They ruin traffic flow, and don't make things safer...mainly because some drivers go over them fast and some slow. A pedestrian never knows which. You get politicians and uneducated do-gooders that get these things installed. I've heard of citizens getting them installed in front of their house because they think it will reduce noise. Yeah, right. Stopping. Thumping. Accelerating engines. Squealing tires. Very quiet......riiiight......

I've been feeling a knock in my front end for the last 10k miles or so every time I go over a speed bump or a rough road. I'm sure with 89K miles and never had an alignment, something is bound to be loose.

Speed bumps have given way to speed humps and/or speed tables, which are less "violent" on a car. DOT's rarely use speed bumps on highways, as they are mostly installed by local municipaities on local streets.
I wonder how the residents near speed bumps like it when every vehicle makes lots of noise when they go over the bump. I understand the need to control speed on local streets, but it seems like you introduce more problems.
The other thing we are doing now for what is called "traffic calming" is to reconstruct intersections with different materials such as brick pavers, at a slightly different elevation (an inch or so) that signifies to drivers that they have entered a "slow down" area.
