Do Not use anything but the cast aluminum alloy Lower Control Arms on an HHR.

The stamped steel Cobalt/G-5/Ion parts are not designed for, or suitable, for an HHR.

The proper GM part numbers are.....

15787555 Which supersedes to 22708764 for the Right Side Lower Control Arm.

15787556 Which supersedes to 23708765 for the Left Side Lower Control Arm.

GM Europe should be able to assist you in obtaining the parts through your local Opel Main Agent, or do a Google search for the part numbers.

To echo all of the previous responses, get the proper parts especially if you're coming due for your HHR's TÜV Technical & Safety Inspection.

OK, so they'll both fit? Still wondering what the benefit is of aluminum vs. steel other than unsprung weight. It's not a RACECAR.

And the car was purchased in the USA. I'm the original owner.

My point was both will fit, but the cast aluminum is proper. Whether they call it FE1 or FE3 does not matter the arm assembly is the same as long as it is the cast part.

As was said earlier THE PARTS BOOK IS WRONG! They combine Cobalt/Saab/Opel/HHR and whatever other Delta Platform cars are out there.

2003–2007 Saturn Ion
2005–2010 Opel/Vauxhall Astra H, Saturn Astra
2005–2011 Opel/Vauxhall Zafira B
2005–2010 Chevrolet Cobalt
2005–2009 Pontiac G5/G4/Pursuit
2006–2011 Chevrolet HHR

Have you tried an Opel or other GM dealer? You do know that under the body the HHR is a Saab/Opel right?

Yes, and I haven't been to the Opel dealership. I'm not sure how helpful they will be. They might try to sell me the steel one's. lol I may check them out tomorrow though prior to placing on online order.
