Is any body else having problems ? I have one coming from the rear area
but canot locate it!!!!! AHHH.The car is so quiet that it makes the sound even
worse than it is. I know Im one of those nuts where a squeak makes me crazy. Any help greatly appreciated.

No squeaks or rattles here, thankfully... have the dealer take a look.

 

I had no rattles untill i installed my sub.
I noticed that the 2 covers for the brake light holes where rattling.
I also had a rattle from the stud that held the spare tire in place.(I removed the spare) I just took the stud out and removed the 2 doors for now. I'm not in the back very often, so the holes don't bother me so much. Could use so foam type on the inside of the doors.

 

i was thinking the same thing,,, how can you hear anything w the stereo up?

Some owners who have reported this problem found the rear hatch weatherstripping was the culprit. Have your dealer check to see that it is fully seated all the way around the hatch. This was the cause on several I have heard of.

I have no idea, but the stud i could hear from the out side and the 2 doors well i just could hear them. Not anymore.

 

I think your right that seems to be where it is coming from.I guess a trip into the dealer is in order

 

I've got several squeaks and rattles going on in my HHR, and I took it into the dealership this morning to (hopefully) get them fixed.

I think I've got the same noise coming from the rear of the vehicle as you do. It's a clunking/rubbing noise that sounds like it's coming from the lift gate. I think it's the weatherstripping problem that was mentioned here earlier.

I've also got a squeak coming from the underside of the drivers seat. Of course, the car was making the noise on the day I made my appointment with the dealership and has been silent ever since. I told the guy about it and he said that they'd take it for a drive and see what they could find.

I'll let you know what I find out when they call me this afternoon.

 

Took the the car into my local Dealer in Fort Erie,Ont and he found the squeak. He lubricated the hinge on the lift gate. It worked for a while and now it's squeaking again. Makes me think that you guys are right that it might be the stripping.My local dealer isn't the best so I might take it across the border to a dealer in Buffalo New York. Not sure if the Waranty is good in the USA? sounds like other HHR owners are experincecing this problem.
