Try this: buy some Mothers' "Back to Black" rubber conditioner and clean the entire weatherstripping around the hatch well. Thsi will also serve as a lubricant to reduce friction and rattles.
For around $5 this can be a much easier fix than having to waste time at a dealer.

if your looking for a great dealer on this side of the river try City Chev in downtown Hamilton.
Really honest dealer. I didn't purchase my HHR from them but they went to bat for me on the paint problem. They offered discount's but pointed me in the direction of GM first. My selling dealer won't even give me the time of day with this issue. How many dealers invite customers into the shop area and provide them with smock's so there cloths don't get dirty. Notice posted in the waiting area of the shop.
