I signed up for my 3 free months a few weeks back. Plan on keeping it for the time being but just going down to the safety only plan

Cool...good to know! I'll have to activate my free three months. Doubt I'll keep it...don't need another bill.

Why would I want OnStar activated? Seriously, aside from crash detection, what real world everyday benefit does OnStar offer that a cell phone doesn't ?

Have never had it activated, apparently know not what I'm missing.

Then again, I intentionaly left the cell phone home all of last weekend and didn't miss it either.

The hands free phone was great when it was free. Is that part of the three months free?

I like the safety of on star for crash notification and you get an email of you cars status. Tire psi, any codes it may have.

I also like the lock out service. I locked my keys in my car one time and with a phone call they unlocked it for me in seconds.

I don't pay for the service but I sign up when it's free just for peace of mind.

I like the safety aspect, the lock-out service (ESPECIALLY after my sister locked her keys in her PT and we had to call AAA to break in!) and the turn by turn directions (I find they're very accurate and helped me on a trip to Louisiana recently!

The phone is not free on the trial but they gave me an offer to purchase a set of minutes at a lower price for first time setup.

All total, OnStar gave me about 300 minutes over about 4 years. I purchased 30 minutes to continue and extend the phone use and they gave me about 100 each time (for being a valuable customer, I was told). I think 30 minutes is about $25.00. Kind of high, but the rest was free. I now have let it expire. I used all the minutes, except about 40, calling friends and chatting. Originally it was a "just in case" situation.

Oh, and I believe they gave me 100 minutes when I first signed up.

They WILL work with you, if you say you would like to try it.....providing the 30 minutes for a very discounted price.

My experience, anyhow.

I did 100 min for $6 when I started my free trial a few weeks back.

What I was more disappointed in was that the 2009 and lower wouldn't work with the OnStar app. Only 2010+
