In a state of confusion.

I am really confused right now. See i am the president of a car club with a group of guys thats got some extreme vehicles. I have had the hhr for 7 months and won two trophies with it so far. i am wanting to go extreme with my car but the only thing is i got commitment issues. I am only 20 and this is my 10th car. I really want to do air bags, shave tha door handles, antenaes, rear window wiper and squirter and the tail lights, and do custom paint. the thing that scares me is, doing all this to a 07. cause i am not exactly sure this is the car i want to keep for ever. cause once i do all this resale value is destroyed. so i am gonna ask you guys should i continue on my hhr with this stuff or do what i have been thinking and buying a mini truck
(probably s-10,ranger, or tocama) and do all the stuff to it and keep the hhr for a daily driver?

the last line in your post is your answer.

if you want a custom vehicle, buy something that already lost all of its resale value, and keep the HHR as your daily driver. You will find small things you can do without going too extreme, to make your HHR a little more YOU, without destroying its resale any more than it already has been.

customize something older, and keep your new car as the dependable, reliable, economical utility...it has enough "cool" all its own without having to turn it in to something so extreme.

that's just my 2 cents...take it, or give me change

Why not buy a used HHR that already is out of warranty? This way you can have the best of both worlds!

Besides, tricked out mini-trucks are a dime a dozen.

yes they are. but the reason i was wanting to do it to my hhr is i already got a jump on things with the stuff i got done already. and plus i just got back from a show in florida that had about 400 vehicles there and i was the only hhr.

Well you asked. From a old car guys point of view is a two part story. I am Treasure of a Car Club that is having our 19 th. all-type car show this year with around 700 + cars and some of the more extreme vehicles (bagged etc.) have come the point of almost being un-drivable and certainly not a daily driver. If you modified your HHR and as you age it would eventually become less and less of a daily driver, so I think you are going to have to eventually become a two car man with the related expense. Having said that, the mini pickups have been slammed many times and to do a HHR would be unique, for awhile anyway. You didn’t give option three which would be to quit the car club and take up knitting.

Go for it! My 06 HHR is in a million pieces in the garage, only has 300! miles on it and has major body panels in varying states of modification! The first cut is the hardest! The mods you speak of will not alter your HHR in a way in which you can't use it as a daily driver. The biggest problem I see with driving mine everyday (in fair weather) after completion is keeping it clean. If you plan on any kind of major national showing of your creation, then you wouldn't want to drive it, it would be a trailer queen. That doesn't really sound like what you want to do, if it's local events & gatherings...go for it!

quitting the club is not a option! i have been leading it for 4 years now. and i go to shows in mississippi, florida, georgia, tennesse, and here at home in alabama. i think the mods would be ok and plus i have a blast driving the hhr now so i may just need to keep it. and as far as traveling goes i got a 8 and half by 20 foot trailer thats enclosed so i could pull it long distances.

I think you should continue trickin' out your HHR and if you don't want to rank up the miles and use it as a daily driver, buy a used, good car and show the HHR or drive it only on weekends. I think the HHR is different and unique. Everybody at car shows, show off there S-10 Pick-ups, Blazers, Mustangs, Hondas etc...

But an HHR, thats the attention getter because theres not that many that are tricked.

Check your HHR's value now. That may help you make a decision

+1

It really won't have much of a resale value regardless of the mods you want to do anyway. Just don't expect to get out of it whatever money you put into it.
