Mine had no issues like that. Be very careful NOT to get any locktite on thew plastic it will weaken it.

The thread on the antenna is deep, much deeper than I needed. I put the post on the base first, then screwed the antenna on.

I've done it on mine but with an antenna from an 07 Chevy Equinox, It works good and good reception

Well I have it on there and it is official..the reception stinks! WEEI in Boston which is a pretty strong signal fades out just before I cross the state line back into NH now...that never happened before. Couple other stations are crackly now also...but it looks good lol

Maybe I'll try some of that Radio Shack stuff but I'm skeptical

For those yet to do this, do not use locktite! If you get any on the plastic it will weaken it and the antenna base will crack.

Don't know why your reception is so bad, though any stubby will be worse that the OEM. Hope you get it worked out.

I didn't get any on the plastic afaik...I only put a tiny bit on the threads that go into the antenna...it isn't horrible reception..I can still get stations..just not as far away from Boston as I used to.....not a huge investment...if it bothers me too much I'll just put the OEM back
