Summit White vs Olympic White ?

My HHR is listed as "Summit White" and when I needed some touch up paint I got "Olympic White" because that's what the VIN told them it was. The Olympic White ended up being waaaaaaaay brighter than the Summit White. When I showed the guy at the dealership I picked it up from he said it was most likely a white that was used for Pontiac, since GM doesn't seem to use the same shades of colors for any of their brands...
I just picked up some touch up paint from local Chevrolet Parts Dept.
It was listed as Olympic White from my VIN, too..
But it is a perfect match to my Summit White Panel..(maybe I got lucky ? )

The diffrences in paint names
Now with that said remember that if you put a red chevy next to a red buick next to a red pontiac yes they may be all the same duplicolor however most the time the car itself will appear diffrent, it's because they are. They are all GM's hell even caddy's are GM's but you will never match the 3 together.. Dupli color macks whats in high demand. Where if you go to your local car paint store they can match the color perfectly. The different GM cars look different cause they are. They all start with the same wa# but each factory uses a lil more or less laquor or thinner in order to give diffrent effects. Also some may say they match when after paint thier sprayed with a mettalic gloss coat. That changes the whole game. To get a true match and make it look right. Do it the right way. Not the duplicolor way... They're getting rich of cutting corners
