Tach wiring Question

I want to install an after market tach (Sun) but it runs off the coil. Since each cylinder has it's own coil, that won't do. Can anyone tell me anything about the factory tach wiring? Can I intercept the factory tach wire and use that? Any other ways of doing this?
Thanks
Cliff

What I can say is you need to get a wiring diagram for the PCM and know what wire is used for the tach signal.

On LS1's we connect right from the PCM.

List the actual tach your using please.

I have the same question.
I want to install a Stewart Warner shift light on my SS.
Does any one know the wire color and location for aftermarket tach installation?

I have not purchased one yet, but get a Tech Manual. It can even be a Chilton or Generic, if they will show a wiring schematic, and it should be clearly listed.
