Tailgate and Spoiler ?

Do any of you owners with the hoop style rear spoiler on the tailgate notice whether or not it keeps the tailgate cleaner then it would be without one? Back in the 70's the K5 Blazers came equipped with a stainless deflector that was bolted above the rear tailgate window and it would deflect the air from the roof down the back window to help it stay clean it poor conditions, so I was wondering if the HHR's hoop style spoiler was designed to do the same? I notice the rear of my HHR gets really dirty in wet or snowy conditions and I'm debating adding one if it will help.

the general consensus seems to be "no".
the HHR spoilers are simply for appearance

They look cool but are only for looks, I have toyed with the idea of old school stainless steel wind deflectors like on my Dad's old 63 Mercury wagon but I didn't want to drill holes to mount them I case they don't work

I'd be happy to drill them for you!

I wonder if something could be intergraded into the hoop style?

Don't know if this will keep the back end clean but it looks cool on this HHR.
