Takeoff

We have a 2010 LT1 with 2.2 liter engine, auto trans.

Had a little bit of snow last night and the wife was complaining about getting started on the slick pavement because the engine surges slightly on takeoff.

I have noticed this myself but it isn't a problem on dry pavement and it is not that pronounced, but you do notice it. Other than that, the car runs great.

Is this normal for this engine/trans setup?

If your car has traction control, if you spin the tires on take off the computer kicks it in and then spinning will stop. Not sure if this would be the surging your wife felt or not?

Sounds like the traction control stepping in, it feels like you have a dead spot in the throttle and then off you go. You can always have the dealer check it, there may be a reflash update they can do on the computer.

"Dead spot in the throttle" is probably a better description of what we are experiencing.

Thanks, I believe I will have it checked out.

When the traction control activates the info center reads "Low Traction"

I'm fairly sure this is what is happening. My 2009 2.2 auto is very sensitive to slippery surfaces, and the TC kicks in really quickly. When this happens the engine bogs down by design.

I don't think that's it. The wife has seen the traction control indicator. I haven't, yet we have felt the same thing in the gas pedal.

When you first put your foot on the pedal, there is a slight dead spot before the motor reacts, every time. Wet or dry pavement. It just doesn't feel right and we haven't seen any lights to indicate a problem.

I will get it checked out by the dealer and let you good folks know what they come up with.

Thanks all.
