Is There Any Reason *NOT* To Get A GM Certified HHR?

Like the title asks.
I read the 170+ checks they do.
No compression check or anything near as deep as that but still looks like a fairly thorough checklist.
It sounds almost to good to be true.
Is GM Certified in any way something to shy away from?
I searched this forum and haven't found an answer.
Will they back a used sale as completely as a new sale?
I fully plan to get the extended warranty 11˝ months after I buy it.

I could save $5K on the exact same HHR SS with 10K miles on it with GM Cert.
It also has the black/red interior (pure sex) opposed to the black/grey interior (dirty faster and not so porn worthy) in the new one.
They're both black 2008 SS with auto and the exact same features.
The used one has a small parking lot dent on a rear fender edge that 95% of people wouldn't even notice and it's not even part of the decision to me.
If I get the used one I can afford running boards, stage 1 + install, ash tray muffin (!), cargo orginizer and still have $$$ for tax & license etc...
PLUS have the pure sex interior.
If they're both mechanically perfect is buying new worth the $5K?
If so, why?

Thanks

+ of GM certified

The GM certification gives you some recourse besides your wallet if something major(like tranny) goes bad in next yr/10,00 mi after purchase.
I bought my Fall Sp. Ed. because it had GM CERT. IMHO.

Just remember with a brand new one, you are going to pay the depreciation as soon as you leave the lot. Is it worth that few thousand dollars for the new car smell, and knowning that you are the first owner? If not, then certified used is the way to go. I bought a GM Certified used 2006 back in February, and if you're buying used, it's the way to go. The thing that I liked the most was knowing my car came with an extended 1 year 12,000 mile warranty.

If you decide to go used, I would make sure it's certified for that reason, but it's really up to you. As far as new vs. certified used, that's again based on what you want. There shouldn't be too much wrong with a fairly new (used) car, and even if there are a few things, it's covered under warranty. You have some time to work things out or change your mind. In fact, my car went in the same week I bought it for warranty work.

Nothing wrong with certified used in my opinion.

I would rather see you take the certified, and save the cash, and get the interior color you want. my SS is no different today than it was last year.

Beat them down on the price even more, if you can.

If you do go used, I would wait to buy the Extended warranty until right before the 3yr or 36k mile Factory warranty expires.

Just make sure you check out the carfax too

No reason not to get it! Get the certified one! My '06 is certified, we bought it in April of '08 with 7800 miles and the deal was at the time an added 3 months to the bumper to bumper warranty. Price was about 4k less than new. I've never purchased new, and doubt that I ever will.

BTW, the previous owner bought some oil change and tire rotation package that I didn't find out about until a few months after the purchase of the car. It was transferable, so I get free oil change and tire rotations until August of this year. What I'm suggesting is that you should ask if there is anything like this attached to the car. For us it was a nice little bonus.

If you can live with the used, go that route.

Yes. But one member had a skirt on the right and running board on the left when his was delivered.
